Beaded necklaces have a 30lb of force breaking point! I make them with a 10 strand stainless steel beading wire that is coated for extra strength. I find this material to be the most durable option for a beaded necklace, over elastic which easily snap. Some things that you can do to provide extra care would be to take the beaded necklace off before showering, swimming, and sleeping. Most importantly avoid situations where it can be yanked on!
